Life on the road as been a whirlwind! It feels that I am just now getting adjusted to living in 120 square feet. The hardest part about living in Nancy would be not having creature comforts. I mean, I didn’t think I was high maintenance until we started traveling full time in an RV. I miss my bed, my shower, different clothes to choose from, a big kitchen to cook in, AIR CONDITIONER, having a clean space, just to name a few.

On the other hand, I have been half way across America and seen a lot of beautiful landscapes, animals, people, and had countless priceless experiences and encounters. My yoga practice moved from the same spot in my house or back yard everyday to the beaches in Florida keys and the Red Woods on the Pacific Coast. Its exciting and inspiring.

Gregg and I had a bit of a rough spell when we found ourselves adjusting the first few months but now  we are closer than we have ever been ( which always seems impossible until it happens). Our trust for one another has grown so deeply. We are learning what it means to truly coexist and share a space with another human. To love unconditionally.

Ive found that through learning to love Gregg unconditionally I am learning to love God and understanding God’s love for us. This is why a marriage is so sacred.

We will be doing a whole LIVE stream or youtube video about this topic when we feel we have processed all of road life and feel open to share soon!

As for me in general, I am doing good. I have some really exciting news I will be sharing soon! I also have a retreat in the works with a  beautiful retreat center in Marrakesh located  in magical Morocco! Its not too late to put your name on the list of early sign up and details if you are interested in traveling with us to Africa. I will be releasing dates within the next week so if you are on the list, you will have the first opportunity to sign up! Comment your email or how you to prefer to be reached if you wish to be on this list.

We have about four more full months on the road before we start heading back to Mississippi for the holidays.  I have learned so much out here on the road I barely recognize myself in the mirror anymore.

I can’t believe the amount of support from family, friends, strangers, and the universe from this giant leap of faith we took when moving into Nancy! So if you have been supporting us on our journey, thank you,  we couldn’t do it without you!

I can’t wait to see where this next chapter leads! I will share more soon! Please email me or comment with any questions or feed back you are interested in! If you want to subscribe to this blog, you can enter you email on the home page to get my blog directly to your inbox so you never miss a post! Loving you so!

Gregg and I don’t know what we are doing. We are learning as we go and will continue to once we get on the road. Gregg finally figured out what the different amps and voltages were and how they worked in the RV about two weeks ago after reading about this stuff for a few months now.

Everyone keeps saying its not “if” she is going to break down but “when.” Not if we get a flat tire but when. and I pray she doesn’t catch on fire as we ride down the road from a gas leak, or blow off the side of the road from strong head winds.(These things actually happen and I have read a lot of horror stories :/ ) I will learn how to read road maps, how to change a tire, hell maybe even how to change the oil. There are so many factors that could go wrong along the way. But there are so many things that are going to go right also.

Today marks ten days away from moving completely out of the house. Tonight and tomorrow I am going to finish painting the bathroom and touching up the walls. Then next week on the 28th and 29th we are moving out/ moving in! Gregg and I will have everything out of the house and into the RV by the 30th when we leave for our first trip with Nancy. We are spending New Years in Arkansas, hoping it isn’t freezing ,or we will have to bust out the heating blankets :). These toymo RV’s don’t hold much heat. Thankfully we will be hooked up to a camp site and not dry docking. We aren’t quite ready for that yet I don’t think.

I cannot believe how fast time is flying. My last day to work at Free People is January 5th, my last yoga classes to teach at M Theory will be January 19th, last yoga classes in Tallulah are January 25th, me and Linds go to Vegas January 26th-29th, then Gregg and I say our goodbyes the 30th and 31st! Febuary 1st, we are Florida bound.

We are headed to Alachua Florida where I was yoga teacher trained in July this summer to stay for a few days. I can’t wait to be back at the Temple of the Universe. Micky Singer is amazing. He has two books published if you wanna check them out. ( The Untethered Soul and The Surrender Experiment). I’ve read the Untethered Soul and it was really great at showing me how many walls and boundaries I still had up based on fear alone.

After Alachua, we are headed to Miami and the keys to wait the winter out. We will be there until mid March. We will be back the 11th-18th to celebrate birthdays, weddings, and to pick up the top of our wedding cake from my mom to celebrate our one year anniversary on the 26th.

We don’t really have a plan on where we are going after that. Originally we said we wanted to do the east coast first, then mid states, west coast, then head up to Canada to get to Alaska. But, now I don’t know. I think we are going to go wherever the weather is best suited for our comfort and wherever the wind blows. Maybe Mexico next? We still have to get some paper work squared away for the pups before we can leave the US now that I think about it!

Anyways, this is really surreal and time is moving so quick. I hope you’re staying warm on this chilly Monday (at least here in Mississippi).  We officially announced the big news about the trip publically. If you are on instagram and want to follow along with the story ,you can find us under the name @thejourneywithn . Blog coming soon!

Don’t forget to find something to be thankful for today.

Rainy Monday

I haven’t written here in a while. My creativity comes in waves and lately it hasn’t come out in the form of writing. However, I am feeling the need to keep a documentation of the next month and coming year, so here I am. It is a rainy Monday. It has rained the past two days, and it is suppose to rain for the rest of the week. The rain matches the feel for this time of year to me, so Im okay with it. Forever a spring and summer baby but for some reason this winter seems a little different.

I romanticize everything, including this moment. Right now I’m soaking up all the rainy vibes while I drink chai tea and eat chia seed pudding.

Gregg and I bought an Rv not long ago and finally came up with a name, Nancy. No one knows yet except my jobs, close friends, and of course family. Gregg is waiting closer to time so that everything flows smoothly. Today marks one month before we have to be completely moved out of the house so the renters can move in. OMG. I have definitely  been romanticizing living in Nancy. It is going to be great to see so many places and have so many adventures, but I have this feeling I am going to quickly realize just how blessed I have been.

Gregg and I are going from a three bedroom house with lots of space for the dogs and cat to a 21 foot Rv. I know that this is going to make me face a lot of my greatest fears including dying in a car wreck. Because I am basically going to living on the road I will have to face this fear close to everyday. So living in Nancy I’m sure will loose its romantic appeal quickly. Im most worried about the dogs tagging along. They are use to having space to run whenever the want. We will have to purposefully set aside time to let the roam freely while not being in danger of running off of a cliff or getting eaten by a wild animal. Its also going to be a serious pain to have to put them on a leash every time we need to take the to the restroom. We usually just open the back door and let them back in a few minutes later. When it is freezing cold at two in the morning, the last thing I am going to want to do is take them walking in a Wal-Mart parking lot to go poop. But, sacrifices must be made!

Gregg and I keep asking each other if we are crazy. We acknowledge that we are and move on.

I know one day we will look back and this will be something we never forget, so we are going for it.

I read recently “If it scares you, then you are moving closer to the truth.” This has been my mantra as of late because I AM SCARED.

But fear is not our truth, so I chose love over fear.

“Be bold and mighty forces will to your aid.”

Be bold my and always follow your heart.

a note from mother universe

when a human treats you badly my son, close your eyes, breathe deeply, and feel me tall in your chest.that is not only the sky and ocean, that is a whole human race inside you. never forfeit what you believe- all of you began naked. keep being ridiculous while people tell you to give up hope in the cruel, give so much love, it haunts the hate in others, they will think your gift is silly, that you are just another wannabe modern day hippie, but show them that there is so much more to this, to you, to them. keep being ridiculous in the most purest of ways.

not enough people are.

Naked Human

I cannot wait to buy Christopher Pointdexter’s new book. If you want some soul reading, check him out!

Tonight for dinner I had a south western vibe theme! I made clean eats salsa and southwestern quinoa bake.

The clean eats salsa bites are perfect to make as an appetizer or as a snack for a busy day on the run.

Clean Eats Salsa Bites

  • 1 large tomato ( vine ripe if possible)
  • 1/4 red onion
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • juice of half a lime
  • chili pepper and sea salt to taste

Dice the tomato, onion, and cilantro. Dice depending on how chunky or smooth you like your salsa to be. Add the lime juice and chili pepper. Enjoy with tortilla chips, pita, or on top as bruschetta.

I personally like high vibe foods, so, I cut a whole cucumber into 1/2 inch slices to serve the salsa on. The cucumber is a great mild veggie boat to carry the southwestern flavors over the palate.

If you are not a fan of cucumber, you can also use celery!

Why should you eat this?

Because Vitamin C!!! This help is collagen production that aids in support for multiple tissues in the body. Collagen defends the cells from damage also by neutralizing toxic wastes that usually damages cell tissue membrane.

And that’s just one reason.

This healthy dish aids in Vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for your eye sight. Vitamin A helps your retina detect lower levels of light to help you see at night time. Pretty cool!

What are some of your favorite snacks and apps?

Happy Eating.

Getting sun for the first time this year!

Getting sun for the first time this year!

“Realization grew on me as quickly as it takes your hand to warm the cool side of the pillow.”

– Alt J

I remember the first class this pose was taught. I could barely balance on my standing leg, much less hold my leg straight.  Then she said okay, now grab your foot with your opposite hand, AND twist your body. WHAT!, I screamed inside my head. I was all bent out of shape ha!

But, practice. Practice and all is coming.

Why should you do this pose?

Because it is Spring, and that means Spring cleaning.

This pose is great for getting rid of toxins built up from stress or unhealthy foods. This pose works for  you by stretching the hamstrings and re-aligning the shoulders, while opening the chest and creating a feeling of space.  This pose also aids in digestion.

Parivrtta Hasta Padangusthasana

Means- Standing Extended Spinal Twist

  • Stand with feet shoulder width apart
  • Shift weight onto left foot
  • Stand tall on left leg and bring right knee into chest
  • Grab right foot with left hand
  • Extend the leg straight as twist the right arm behind you
  • Look back at your right hand
  • Repeat on opposite side

– Beginners, if you cannot get that leg straight, that’s okay! Keep it bent! Practice and this will come in time.

Working on scorpion.

Working on scorpion.

Once I get this done, I’ll be happy. Once I finish school, I’ll be happy. Once I buy this outfit, then I’ll be happy, Once I loose weight, then I’ll be happy, Once I get this job, then I’ll be happy. Once I get this house, THEN, I will be happy. We all have a “then I’ll be happy statement”.

This is my battle. My battle to stop the cycle of this becoming that. There is no this becoming that, just now.

We have the choice to be happy every second. I’m not sure at what point we became conditioned to think we cannot be happy all the time! The Italians know this best!!! – This is an Eat, Love, Pray movie reference if you need some inspiration on how to be happy today!

Taking eighteen hours this semester, working ten hours a week, being a full time mom to two dogs, two cats, and two chickens, having a daily yoga practice, writing a blog, balancing time for friends/family, and being an inspired healthy “chef” has me feeling a little stressed right now!

Today at work, I found myself saying, once these test are over tomorrow, I’ll be in a better mood.

I stopped at that thought and reflected on all the times I have told myself I will change my attitude once something else has changed.

But today, I chose to change myself, I chose to be happy!

Whether we choose the path we are on right now or not, no one can take our freedom of mind away. That is our power to harness.

As I go into my studies tonight, I remind myself that I chose the path I am on, and it truly does satisfy me. At this moment I choose happiness.

We are alive, breathing, living on this beautiful planet, and we can have happiness whenever we want. We just have to chose it.

What do you choose?
